INGREDIENTS

• 300 grams salted puffed rice (murmura)

• ½ cup peanuts

• 6 tbsp roasted chana dal

• ½ cup curry leaves

• 5 dry red chillies, chopped

• ½ cup crushed garlic

• 2 tbsp red chili powder

• 1 tsp turmeric powder

• 1 tsp coriander powder

• 1 tsp jeera (cumin) powder

• 4 tbsp amchur (dry mango) powder

• Salt to taste

• 1 cup oil

Crispy murmura namkeen with bold spices and roasted chana dal – a crunchy, spicy treat for evening cravings.

PREPARATION STEPS

 1. In a small mixer jar, blend red chili powder, jeera powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and  3 tbsp roasted chana dal into a fine masala powder. Keep aside.

2. Heat oil in a wide pan. Add peanuts and fry until golden.

3. Add roasted chana dal, curry leaves, and chopped red chillies. Fry till they turn crisp.

4. Pour this fried mixture (excluding the oil) over the puffed rice in a large mixing bowl.

5. In the same pan, fry crushed garlic until golden.

6. Add the prepared masala powder and fry for 1–2 minutes.

7. Transfer this masala mix to the puffed rice bowl.

8. Mix everything thoroughly using clean hands.

9. Finally, sprinkle amchur powder and salt. Adjust spice and salt to your preference.

10. Store in an airtight container once cool.
